Annual Abu Dhabi Food Festival rolls into the emirate
Foodies across the UAE will have their appetite for authentic street food satisfied as the Abu Dhabi Food Festival returns, to run from 7 to 23 December.
The events will feature more than 100 of the most popular food trucks and vendors in the region, coupled with music and family-friendly attractions. The events, organised by Truckers, include Truckers Carnival, Beach Feast, Street Fest, Street Food Market, Truckers Park, Big Piknik, Delicious Cinema, Truckers Exit, and Top Secret Long Table.
"We are excited to be bringing well-curated food events to Abu Dhabi, of many are new concepts launching for the first time in the UAE. There is a growing street culture and it is important to support these independent food traders and artists by giving them a popular platform, such as the Abu Dhabi Food Festival, to showcase their talents. We look forward to working with the Department of Culture and Tourism and other festival stakeholders on making these events a hit among the Abu Dhabi community," said Alexandre Teodoresco, Founder of Truckers.
To kick off the festival, Truckers Carnival will take place between 7 and 23 December, opposite Marina Mall, and will feature 10 food trucks, which will change on weekly basis. There will also be famous skill games, reminiscent of a sixties travelling fair.
Meanwhile, Beach Feast, taking place on Yas Beach on 8 and 9 December, will also feature 10 food vendors, but with menus inspired by different Caribbean islands. Jerk Chicken and Banana plantain from Jamaica, Coucou and Flying fish from Barbados, Pepperpot from Guyana are just a few of the national dishes which will be available. The artist line-up here will feature some of the best local reggae bands to entertain the Beach Feast visitors over the weekend.
Street Fest, on the other hand, will be taking place in Al Ain and will be the largest public event of the Abu Dhabi Food Festival, running over three weekends: 8 and 9 December, 14 to 16 December, and 21 to 23 December at Al Ain Zoo with over 40 food trucks taking up shop at this event.
Street Food Market ÔÇô 14 and 15 December ÔÇô is an adults-only event as it will be a fusion of a street food festival and an urban party while Truckers Park ÔÇô 15 and 16 December ÔÇô will be at Madinat Zayed in Abu Dhabi featuring new and upcoming food trucks of the UAE.
The Big Piknik (22 and 23 December) is a new food event concept which will be launched for the first time during the Abu Dhabi Food Festival 2017; a picnic decorated with giant food items will make up the environment and also work towards promoting healthy eating. The same weekend will also play host to the Delicious Cinema, to be held within Manarat Al Saadiyat, and will take visitors on a culinary and cinematographic journey composed of five movies and five meals.
Truckers Exit, on the other hand, will be all set up for quick bites on the go, located on the road to Dubai, and will see a weekly rotation of some of the best food trucks in the UAE. The event will run from 10 to 13 and 17 to 20 December.
To top it all off, Top Secret Long Table will be the one event which all foodies in the UAE would want to attend. It will take place on 8 December at an undisclosed location in Abu Dhabi, which has never been used before as a venue for an event. This setting is set to be a defining moment for the Abu Dhabi Food Festival 2017 as only invitees and ticket holders will be notified of the location, a mere few hours before the event kicks off.
