Charity dinner for kids to be held in Dubai this month

Larchfeld and Gulf for Good will be holding the second of its popular classical music concert gala dinners on 5 April in aid of Larchfeld Children's Home in Tanzania at the Waldorf Astoria on the Palm.

The charity evening - approved by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Affairs department - will feature a cocktail reception, a concert by the China Red Trio and will then be followed by a set-course dinner.

The China Red Trio features China’s best musicians – Concert Pianist Xi You performing on The King Edward Steinway, internationally renowned Violinist Min Yang and the Principal Cellist of the China Philharmonic Orchestra Zheng Yue Guan.

An auction and raffle later on in the evening will also be held in hopes to raise funds for the Larchfeld Children’s Home which is a Gulf for Good-sponsored project being built for kids left behind by their parents, either due to disease or death.

The Home was set up by a group of Tanzanian and Dubai-based individuals with links to the country. It acquired more than 11 acres in 2011 at Mkuranga - some 60 kilometres south of the capital, Dar-es-Salaam - on which to build the orphanage and school, in addition to a kitchen-garden.

The frst phase of the project has been completed and is now home to some 60 children. A further fve phases are to be built on the site, which will welcome a total of 300 children.

“I have fond memories of growing up in Tanzania and as a gesture of giving back, I’m determined to make Larchfeld Children’s Home a place where children, who are not so fortunate, will have the chance to grow up in a safe and happy environment," said Dubai-based Larchfeld Co-Founder and Gulf for Good Board Member, James Berry.

“I would urge anyone who appreciates a high calibre of music performance to join us for an evening of fabulous entertainment, great food and the chance to win big in the auction and raffle, as their participation will go towards making a better life for nearly 300 children, who would otherwise have been abandoned,” added Berry.

Price (minimum pledge): Dh600 per person or a table for 10 people for Dh5,500. For reservations, email: stringquartet2017@ or

The gala evening is being sponsored by James Berry & Associates, Dubai Duty Free and MMI.
