Night of theatre raised over Dh40,000 in funds for Red Crescent charity
Aldar Academies recently hosted its fifth annual student-led charity concert
and subsequently raised over Dh40,000 for
children in need.
Over 490 students from across Aldar
Academies’ seven private schools and
50 students from ADNOC Schools’ four
campuses – which Aldar Academies
commenced the management of in 2017 –
led the evening of music, dance, and theatre
under the lights of Emirates Palace Theatre.
All funds raised from the event, titled the
Aldar Academies Musical Spectacular, will
be donated to the Red Crescent charity in
support of causes that benefit children in
need in the UAE and globally.
The latest performance brings the total
funds raised by Aldar Academies’ students
across its five consecutive charity concerts to
over Dh410,000. The education provider has
previously raised funds in support of children
in need across Somalia, to help build a school
library for a school of 500 Ethiopian orphans,
to support Nepalese orphans following the
country’s devastating earthquake in 2015, and
for the Children’s Special Care Center in Abu
Dhabi. Since the first Aldar Academies charity concert, the education provider has also
raised a further Dh220,000 through other
charity initiatives held across its schools.
“This is the fifth occasion our talented
students have led our annual concert, and
every year they dazzle us with something
new. This year I was particularly delighted
to see our ADNOC Schools students
perform with us for the first time – I am
certain it won’t be the last,” said Nilay
Özral, CEO of Aldar Academies.
“The creative arts play an important part
in our STEAM-focused curricula, and we saw evidence of that tonight from the
confidence, passion and dedication shown
by our students," she added.
Reflecting the value of collaboration –
one of five that Aldar Academies instills
across its educational community
- students of all ages from Aldar
Academies and ADNOC Schools came
together to thrill a packed audience of
parents, staff and media. The event saw
students lead classic performances from
famous theatrical shows of The Lion
King, Beauty & the Beast, Cinderella,
Grease, and others.
